Why MUSHing is Better than Soap Operas

Soap operas are a good source of entertainment with their interesting situations, sentimentalized family matters, and the melodrama to which we can relate, and even just to peek into something far different from what we know in our normal daily life.

Often used as an escape from the everyday problems which we are too tired to deal with, soap operas take part of your leisure time and, though you are distracted, don't really give you anything in return save for a bit of amusement. As time lost is impossible to recover, the best anyone can do is to try to enjoy it to the maximum. Being a fan of the passion we see in soap operas, I have found it is even more pleasurable to take part in the drama as an active character.

Roleplaying, especially on a MUSH environment, allows you to step into the life of another, experience new situations and emotions while exploring your creativity and improving your writing ability. At Firan, a Mush with a Greco-Roman-like feel, I am able to take part in adventures, say things which I simply would not dare to in real life, and act in ways I'd never dream of. One can be the submissive wife, the patriarch or matriarch, the strong warrior, the drunken smith, the whore, the judge, a prince or a pauper. Depending upon the game where you play, the choices are unlimited and each character is distinct from another. Even on Firan, which primarily used a roster of pre-written characters, even when another is of the same social status, same clan, and same vocation as another, they can be completely different. You can be part of the story and help to write it.

Like happy stories? Take a cheerful character who likes to party and celebrate all day long. Thrive on confrontation? Perhaps play a more aggressive character. Shout! Drink! Start a brawl with your nemesis and dump your frustrations there. Instead of bottling them up, explore your feelings in roleplay instead of sitting back and watching the soap opera unfold.

On Firan, where I play, there is also a real feeling of OOC (out of character) community to go along with the IC (in character) world. It not just a place to play, but also to talk to real people, share opinions, and thoughts or just goof around and chat. Every year, those that are able to travel to the hometown of the creators of the game and meet in person to make lasting friendships face to face, and there are those who continue with a purely virtual relationship. It is all up to you.

In the end, it is your choice. Soap operas are interesting, but why watch when you can help tell the story and let your imagination run?

Relaunch Of New Archant Life Websites

Stylish, interactive, packed with information and easy to use, another batch of Archant Life websites are set to launch over the next few weeks.

Sites for Living South and Grove have already been launched and revamped sites for Kent Life, Surrey Life, Cornwall Life, and Somerset Life will be going live over the next few weeks.

The revamp is the second stage of a project to develop the websites for all of Archant Lifes magazine titles with everything from news, entertainment, fashion, food and drink, property and interior advice to arts & antiques, gardens and wildlife.

The first phase was completed in January with London titles The Green, The Hill, SW and Resident, alongside county glossies Cheshire Life, Yorkshire Life, Sussex Life, Cotswold Life, Devon Life, and Lancashire Life all given a make-over.

Before the project began, most of the county titles already had sites, however they were very dated, and many of the London titles had no websites at all.

As well as being full of information, the new-look sites have developed interactive features such as a Your Space section for readers news and views and the opportunity to send in photos and diary dates for social events, balls and concerts.

In addition there will soon be a trail of a new search tool to enable users to find out exactly what is going on in their area from cinema listings to organised walks. Cotswold Life will be the first site to trial this new function, we expect this to be up and live from early September.

The new sites will also have more commercial opportunity to increase advertising revenue as well as the facility for photo sales and links to the new Homes24 site.

Project manager Sandra Fennemore was given the task of overseeing the project, which will eventually see 23 sites revamped this year.

They have done a great job with the first sites and we are well set for the on going roll out of another 21!

The new county and London websites are being launched one a week for the next six weeks, after which it will settle down to a more leisurely one every two weeks! running parallel to the work for the county / London sites, there is a major re-launch of three sites from within the Archant Life France portfolio including France, Living France and French Property Shop plus the Archant Life mother site too, so, a busy schedule ahead.

I manage 20 comunity based lifestyle magazines from county titles http://www.cheshirelife.co.uk to city magazines http://www.thegreenmag.co.uk.SILENT VISUAL

Do A Triple Take With The Nokia 3250 Phone

Do a triple take with the Nokia 3250 phone.

With the release of the Nokia 3250, Nokia has once again validated its reputation as a mobile phone innovator.

One twist of the wrist and it becomes a music player with memory expandable up to 1 GB for up to 750 songs. Rip tracks from your CDs using Nokia Audio Manager and then transfer them from your PC to your phone. Use the stereo headphones provided or plug your own headphones into the 3.5 mm jack in the headset.

Twist again and it's a 2-megapixel camera. Snap in landscape or portrait mode and get up close with the 4x zoom. Store your photos and videos on your phone and then upload them to your mobile blog with Lifeblog.

Twist back and it's a smartphone. Take calls on five continents, browse over EDGE, and get creative with all the imaging and music software packed inside.

This stunning and highly innovative music/camera/phone comes in a range of four colors: black, green, pink and silver, and the handset features a three position action for switching between the phone, music and camera functions.

According to Nokia, the 3250 markets under the "Nokia XpressMusic" brand because of the music features like dedicated music buttons, paused music during phone calls, 3.5mm and audio connectors.

As an entertainment phone, video clips can be downloaded with animations that can be viewed on the handset. This service appears to be in its early stages and should be checked with Nokia for updated information.

Nokia Audio manager software lets users click drag-and-drop music into the phone and the music player supports standard audio file formats such as MP3, WMA, M4A and AAC

It comes with an FM radio with Visual Radio where users can download interactive content and services when listening to a song. This service is expected to be launched in the next few months.

The 3250 more than a music-phone, it comes with features such as a 2- megapixel camera with 4x zoom, USB 2.0 support and Bluetooth connectivity, and smart phone functionalities, through its integrated Series 60 platform and Symbian OS.

The 3250 is 103.8 x 50 x 19.8 mm, same as the 3230. It comes with an expansion slot for a 1GB microSD rated to store up to 750 songs.

Whichever way you twist it, there's a lot happening inside the Nokia 3250 phone.

Why You Need A Vacation Home In Orlando Florida

So you are thinking about buying a vacation home in Orlando, FL? You will not find a more perfect great destination. There is just so much to see and do, and climate wise it is comfortable all year round. The most popular attractions include:

Walt Disney World: Everyone has heard of Disneyworld. It is the most popular vacation spot on the planet! Four gigantic theme parks make up an area roughly the size of Boston. People mistakenly think that Disneyworld is just a place for kids. It offers a bit of something for everyone.

Season passes are surprisingly affordable if you consider all that you get with it. Disneyworld is so huge that it would take a very, very, long time to see everything. Disney is even more enjoyable during the off-season. You can't beat the short lines and cooler climate! The best part is the attractions run year round.

You could also consider owning a home that you travel to during the off-season, and then rent it out during the summer. The money you would make on this would pay for your home!

Universal Studios, Orlando: Universal Studios is made up of two large themeparks. One park focuses on the movies that Universal has put out while the other is more of a traditional "thrill" park. There is also an adult section called "Skywalk" that features night entertainment and dance clubs. The parks are comparable to Disney in terms of scope and frills.

Wonderful Florida Beaches: Orlando is just a skip away from Florida's many beautiful beaches. Even Tampa is a car ride away. The best part is that the climate allows you to enjoy the beaches almost year round.

Orlando Florida Nightlife: There are tons of adult themed places and activites in the Orlando area. Planet Hollywood and the Hard Rock Cafe, in addition to Universal and Orlando's offerings are just some of the many available places.

I hope you will consider owning a vacation home in Orlando, FL. There is just so much to see and do!
